DWA--Direct Writing Assessment

In years past, students take the DWA in the 9th grade.  Do to legislation last year, it is now moved to 8th grade.  The DWA is a state writing test to measure their proficiency in writing.

This year, it is a persuasive writing test.  In order to prepare for this, please go over persuasive writing techniques with your son/daughter.  Here is a link to where you can download a handout about creating thesis statements and ways to add elaboration, or proof, to their writing.  Click on the "Persuasive Writing Notes" link under Attachments.  It is at the bottom of the list.
